Bloomberg: Polymarket Trading Volume Significantly Inflated Due to "Wash Trading"
BlockBeats News, November 7th, according to Bloomberg, a recent study by Columbia University researchers has found that the trading volume of Polymarket, as one of the most popular prediction markets, has been significantly inflated by so-called "wash trading" — where users engage in frequent buying and selling of the same contract in a short period of time.
The research findings indicate that this phenomenon, referred to by the researchers as "artificial trading," has accounted for an average of about 25% of all buy and sell trading volume on Polymarket over the past three years, despite fluctuating over time.
