Shield Mining: August Cryptocurrency Security Incident Results in $163 Million in Losses, a 15% Increase from July
BlockBeats News, September 1st, according to PeckShield monitoring, there were approximately 16 major cryptocurrency security incidents in August 2025, with a total loss of $163 million, a 15% increase from July's $142 million.
Among them, the five largest security incidents were:
1. A certain Bitcoin holder lost $91.4 million;
2. Turkish cryptocurrency exchange platform BTCTurk suffered a $54 million loss;
3. ODIN•FUN project lost $7 million;
4. BetterBank.io lost $5 million;
5. CrediX Finance lost $4.5 million.
It is worth noting that BTCTurk has experienced two major security incidents in the past year. After losing $54 million in June 2024, the cumulative loss has exceeded $100 million.
